OPTN Computer Systems online following CrowdStrike update

Published on: Friday, July 19, 2024

On July 19, 2024, a software update from the cybersecurity company CrowdStrike disrupted IT systems globally, including the OPTN Computer System, which experienced downtime for approximately an hour.

All OPTN Computer Systems are back online and all issues impacting it have been resolved.

How can I access the OPTN Computer System if my computer is not functioning?

OPTN members can use mobile devices such as phones or tablets to access the OPTN Donor Data and Matching System (known as DonorNet).

What if I need assistance with organ allocation or transport, or have other transplantation questions?

The Organ Center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-292-9537.

There are several tasks the Organ Center can help you with if you lose access to internet:

  • Assistance with adding new donors or candidates
  • Verifying ABO information
  • Running organ specific matches
  • Organ placement assistance for all organs
  • Transportation assistance for organs and tissue typing material
  • Modifying candidate records (to include updating necessary lab values)
  • Removing candidate from Waitlist
  • Transferring waiting time for any candidates that require listing at an alternate transplant center
  • Assistance with inactivating a program’s waitlist

The OPTN Contractor is committed to providing the highest possible level of service.
