National webinar on Nov. 15 for lung transplant professionals on upcoming data collection changes and other insights in lung allocation

The Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) hosted a webinar for lung transplant professionals on Nov. 15, 2023, from 4 – 5:00 p.m. ET. The webinar addressed upcoming data collection changes for lung candidates, part of which the OPTN implemented in early December 2023. Other key points of discussion included highlights from the six-month monitoring of the implementation of continuous distribution of lungs and the development of lung offer filters.

The OPTN Lung Transplantation Committee sponsored the proposal Update Data Collection for Lung Mortality Models, which was approved by the OPTN Board of Directors on Dec. 5, 2022. Members can find more information in the policy notice.
