National collaborative webinar for kidney transplant professionals to provide effective practices for OPTN policy action on eGFR waiting time modifications

The Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) is hosting a collaborative webinar for kidney transplant professionals on July 12, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Presenting panelists from several kidney programs will share effective practices regarding the OPTN eGFR waiting time policy action requiring programs to modify waiting time for candidates affected by race-inclusive eGFR calculations.

The OPTN Minority Affairs and Kidney Transplantation Committees co-sponsored the proposal, which was unanimously approved by the Board in December 2022 and implemented in January 2023.

The policy action aims to improve transplant equity and requires programs to complete policy requirements by Jan. 3, 2024.
