Monitoring report available for lower respiratory testing of lung donors

Published on: Thursday, August 5, 2021

A data report now available in the Lung section of the Resources section of the OPTN website contains key measures for the first month of monitoring lower respiratory SARS-CoV-2 testing for lung donors. An emergency policy change implemented May 27, 2021 requires that all potential lung donors receive lower respiratory testing by nucleic acid test (NAT) for SARS-CoV-2, with test results made available prior to lung transplantation. Read the policy notice for more details.

The OPTN Ad Hoc Disease Transmission Advisory Committee will continue to monitor this emergency policy as data are submitted, and subsequent monitoring reports will be posted on an ongoing basis.
