Interactive OPTN lung data dashboard offers enhanced insights into lung allocation system, impacts of policy development
Published on: Tuesday, November 28, 2023
The Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) has released a new dashboard focused on lung allocation under continuous distribution. The OPTN system tracking: Lung monitor serves as an important complement to the static monitoring reports for continuous distribution of lungs, the most recent of which is for the first three months following implementation of the policy.
What key metrics can I see?
The lung monitor offers interactive visualizations of key measures related to lung allocation, including:
- Number of candidate registrations in the OPTN Computer System
- Number of transplants performed
- Donor organs recovered
- Utilization rate
- Non-use rate
- Organ match efficiency
The new lung monitor will also be able to monitor and evaluate the impact of policy changes as they relate to various geographical data.
Where can I find the dashboard?
A link to the dashboard has been placed in the “Data & calculators” menu tab, under “Dashboards & metrics.” Select “OPTN system tracking: Lung monitor” to see the dashboard.
The dashboard will be updated monthly by the OPTN. Visitors to the page can send feedback on the dashboard and suggest future improvements to DataProducts@unos.org.
