The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is seeking input from stakeholders to shape the next Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) contract.

The OPTN facilitates and coordinates the nation’s organ procurement, allocation, distribution and transplantation activities and ensures availability of, and access to, donor organs for patients with end-stage organ failure.

On April 8, 2022, HRSA released an OPTN Request for Information (RFI) for the purpose of market research. HRSA seeks broad input from organ donation and transplantation community stakeholders. Input received will contribute to enhancements in OPTN contract management to:

  1. Increase accountability in OPTN operations, including board governance, financial structures, data transparency, and policy development;
  2. Enhance the utility and performance of the OPTN IT system and related tools; and
  3. Strengthen equity, access, and transparency in the organ donation, allocation, procurement, and transplantation process.

Responses to the RFI are due to HRSA by May 23, 2022 at 1 PM ET. [Note: This deadline has been extended from the original deadline of May 9, 2022.]
