Comments sought on OPTN data collection relating to data directive
Published on: Monday, November 25, 2024
As part of the federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) review of new and updated federal data collection, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has published in the Federal Register a package of proposed data fields and forms relating to the HRSA data directive. The directive calls for new data collection relating to pre-waitlist consideration of potential transplant candidates, as well as ventilated patients referred to an organ procurement organization as potential deceased donors.
During OMB review, any interested party may submit comments about the proposed data collection for a 60-day period, ending Jan. 3, 2025. The OPTN intends to provide a single response coordinated by the OPTN Data Advisory Committee (DAC) for Executive Committee approval on behalf of the OPTN Board. Updates on the status of the HRSA data directive, along with additional resource information, are available here.
Important note: The publication and public comment process for this set of items is distinct from a separate notice and public comment process regarding other OPTN initiatives and projects. Those are included in a separate Federal Register notice, summarized here.
Written comments must be submitted on or before Jan. 3, 2025, via e-mail to paperwork@hrsa.gov or by mail to the HRSA Information Collection Clearance Officer, Room 14NWH04, 5600 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20857. HRSA will review comments and will subsequently post another document, including any proposed revisions, for an additional 30-day public comment period.
