Additional modeling data available for liver proposal

The Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) has released the final installment of liver simulation modeling results relating to the current public comment proposal to enhance liver distribution. The proposed policy changes are intended to decrease geographic variation in liver transplant access without significantly affecting travel distance or percentage of organ offers flown.
The results confirm the high-level conclusions of LSAM modeling initially performed in 2015, which served as the basis for the proposal. The data set also contains new analyses requested by the liver transplant community regarding the proposed policy’s potential impacts on candidates based on population characteristics and insurance type.
The results have been appended to the proposal, accessible on the OPTN website.
