Webinar to address liver allocation and distribution proposal

Published on: Monday, August 22, 2016

The OPTN/UNOS Liver and Intestinal Organ Transplantation Committee has issued a proposal to increase the equity of the liver allocation and distribution system.

A liver policy webinar was held on August 19th. You can find a recording at UNOS Connect, UNOS' learning management system.

The public comment proposal is available on the OPTN website under Governance>Public Comment.

Purpose of the webinar
The proposed changes seek to modify sharing areas to better match organ supply with demand, ensuring more equitable access for those in need of liver transplant regardless of their place of residence or listing. This webinar is designed to explain the proposed changes, the problems that the proposal will solve, the goals of the proposal and alternatives the committee considered.

After participating in this webinar, attendees will understand the potential impact the proposed changes would have on their transplant centers if it passes.

To submit feedback you should attend your regional meeting or visit the OPTN website and submit a comment at the link located above.
