Donor and Recipient Information-Sharing Guidance and Toolkit Available Resources are available for OPO and transplant center staff who would like to encourage information-sharing between transplant recipients and donor families/living donors. In 2011, a task force made up of members from several organizations, including the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN); United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS); OPTN/UNOS committees; the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA); and transplant associations AOPO (Association of Organ Procurement organizations); NKF (National Kidney Foundation); and NATCO, the Organization for Transplant Professionals, met to develop recommendations about sharing donor/recipient information. They created a guidance document; and several organizations contributed to a toolkit of resources, which includes sample brochures, letters, policies and forms to help organizations manage and encourage donor and recipient information-sharing. |
