Stuart C. Sweet, M.D., Ph.D., is medical director of the pediatric lung transplant program at St. Louis Children's Hospital and associate professor of pediatrics at Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Sweet, who recently completed a two-year term on the OPTN/UNOS board of directors, is chair of the policy oversight committee. He serves on the thoracic organ transplantation committee and chairs its lung and lung implementation subcommittees. He has been chair of the pediatric transplantation committee and a member of the membership and professional standards committee and its data committee and performance analysis and improvement subcommittee.
In addition to his OPTN/UNOS service, he has served on the board of directors of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) and was co-chair of its pediatric council. He currently is chair of ISHLT's scientific program committee for the 2012 annual meeting. He also has served on the medical affairs committee of Mid-America Transplant Services.
He earned his doctorate in cellular and molecular biology and his medical degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
