Dixon B. Kaufman, M.D., Ph.D., is professor and chair of the division of transplantation in the department of surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison.

Dr. Kaufman has served in numerous OPTN/UNOS capacities.  He currently is a member of the membership and professional standards committee and its performance analysis and improvement subcommittee. He previously served as chair of the pancreas transplantation committee.  He has served on the policy oversight committee and the kidney transplantation committee as well as on its kidney variable and kidney regional communication subcommittees.

He has been an active member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS), most recently serving as councillor. He also was on the executive planning committee for the American Transplant Congress. He is a past co-editor of Chimera, the ASTS' quarterly news magazine. He also has served as chair of the pancreas committee at the Regional Organ Bank of Illinois, now Gift of Hope.

He earned both his medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Minnesota  in Minneapolis.
