Matthew Cooper

Matthew Cooper, M.D., is director of kidney and pancreas transplantation and clinical research at Georgetown University Medical Center.

Dr. Cooper is a past chair of the OPTN/UNOS living donor committee. He also currently serves on the kidney paired donation program workgroup and previously on the living donor data task force. He is a member of the Joint Society Working Group, which works to align developing and proposed OPTN policy and transplant societal interests in an effort to develop a collegial and collaborative process.

In addition to his OPTN/UNOS roles, he is vice chair of the Living Legacy Foundation's clinical advisory board. He is a member of the National Kidney Foundation's public policy committee, living donor council executive committee and "End the Wait" task force. He participated on the planning committee of The Transplantation Society's annual transplant meeting for 2012 in Berlin. Dr. Cooper also has served on the curriculum, fellowship training and scientific studies committees of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons.

He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.
